The reefparty was supposed to stay inside the tidepool.

That was the first mistake.

By moonrise, the fish had slipped past the coral gate, the shells had started rolling in several suspicious directions, and an octopus and seahorse had both wandered off with completely different explanations. The frogs assigned to watch the shoreline insist they were “briefly distracted by administrative bubbles.”

Reefparty Runaways is what remained after the little procession was finally spotted drifting through the shallows.

Each runaway brought something with them: an iridescent fish flashing blue, pink, and pale green at the top; a glass spiral shell in the middle like a tiny tide-marked badge; and, below, a mismatched sea creature who may or may not have been invited. One octopus. One seahorse. Both looking far too pleased with themselves.

No one has identified the organizer. The shells refuse to name names. The fish keep changing color under questioning.

The tidepool lost the guest list.

Keep dry, as moisture and chemicals can dull the gold-tone metal, iridescent glass, and antique-bronze charm finish; wipe gently after wear and store separately so the fish, shells, and sea creatures do not scratch, with a polishing cloth included.
