Most visitors from the Faewilde pass through other realms unnoticed. A flicker beneath a leaf, an unexpected shimmer over the water, something small darting past the corner of an eye. Those who see such things are generally very good at explaining them away.
But occasionally, someone looks directly at a fairy and recognizes what they have seen.
Cats are particularly troublesome in this regard. Dolphins are hardly better. Small human children possess the same inconvenient talent, having not yet learned which things they are supposed to believe impossible.
In that instant of recognition, a Faeffigy comes into existence: a tiny likeness of the fairy exactly as they appeared when someone beyond the Faewilde truly saw them. No fairy creates their own Faeffigy, and no portrait can be commissioned or deliberately reproduced. Each is simply the record left behind by one brief moment when the boundary between realms failed to keep its secrets.
These seven bear the names of the fairies whose crossings were witnessed:

Exactly who first recognized each of them, however, is something the Faeffigies do not reveal.
Proof that someone looked twice

Keep your Faeffiggies dry and put them on after lotions, perfumes, and sprays to protect the illustrated portraits and preserve the finish of the metal and glass; after wear, wipe gently with a soft cloth before storing.
