There are roses in the Faewilde that refuse to bloom before dusk.

They spend the daylight hours curled tightly shut, bronze-dark and unimpressive, as though determined to disappoint every gardener who checks on them. Only when the sky begins turning violet do the petals loosen. A bright amethyst-colored center appears first, followed by a deeper purple glimmer beneath it, and finally a long lavender drop that gathers the last of the evening light.

These flowers are called Vesperose.

Old garden ledgers claim they were once planted along pathways used for late suppers, moonlit concerts, and the sort of visits that began with “I shall only stay an hour” and ended sometime after breakfast. Guests learned to judge the lateness of the evening by the flowers: if the first purple facets had begun to catch the lanternlight, conversation was going well; if the lower drops had fully darkened, someone had probably started telling stories they ought not repeat.

The blooms themselves were said to be excellent listeners. Gardeners swore they opened wider around gossip, scandal, and romantic confessions, while remaining stubbornly closed for discussions of weather or household accounts.

No one ever proved this.

No one stopped testing it either.

Keep the rhinestones, glass beads, and antique-bronze findings dry and please don’t toss Vesperose loose into a bag or jewelry pile, as knocks can jar the rhinestones from their settings or chip the glass; after wear, store them somewhere padded and wipe the metal gently with a soft cloth (a polishing cloth will be provided with your item).
