✨The Thornlattix✨ | Silver Glass Chandelier Spike Earrings

There are places in the Faewilde where no wall has ever been built and yet travelers know perfectly well when they have reached a boundary.

The Thornlattix mark some of the oldest.

No one seems entirely certain who first fashioned them. Their curling silverwork resembles the elaborate lattice gates found along forgotten paths, except no gate could reasonably need so many points. Long, gleaming thorns descend beneath delicate scrollwork while small panes of colored glass catch the light between them. They are beautiful enough to invite inspection and sharp enough to suggest that inspection should perhaps be conducted from the correct side.

Faewilde stories disagree about their purpose. Some insist the Thornlattix once guarded places too precious to be entered carelessly. Others claim they were never barriers at all, but warnings: elaborate markers placed wherever the land itself had decided that beyond here, permission matters. There are even those who maintain that the colored glass identifies what each lattice was meant to protect. Nobody has produced a convincing translation, although this has not prevented generations of scholars from arguing about it with tremendous enthusiasm.

Five patterns are still known:
Icikatana is clear as frozen water, its hanging points recalling icicles sharpened into swords.
Ranseurette, named for the long-pointed ranseur, carries the color of an open sky into something designed unmistakably around the business end of a weapon.
Viridspire gleams green through its silverwork and is said to have appeared wherever wild things were permitted to grow undisturbed.
Stilettara burns red, beautiful and brazen, with points worthy of the slender blade that gave it its name.
Sainoire bears black glass and the quiet threat of the three-pronged sai.

Whether these five once guarded anything at all has become largely irrelevant. The original boundaries have shifted, vanished, or simply wandered elsewhere, as boundaries in the Faewilde have an irritating habit of doing. The Thornlattix remain.

Now freed from whatever gates, passages, gardens, or secrets once required their vigilance, they have become considerably smaller and rather more mobile. Their ornate silver-toned filigree hangs beneath faceted glass briolettes, with matching glass cubes scattered among the lattice and lightweight silver-finished spikes suspended below. For all their formidable architecture, each weighs only approximately 7g, allowing the Thornlattix to retain their abundance of points without requiring their wearer to possess the neck muscles of a particularly determined troll.

They are no longer very effective at keeping travelers out.

They remain extremely good at making a point.

Beauty was never required to be harmless.

Keep dry and avoid perfume, lotions, alcohol, and abrasive polishing, as the painted acrylic spikes and plated findings can lose their finish; gently wipe the glass and metal after wear with the polishing cloth we’ll provide and store where the spike fringe will not be crushed or scratched.
