There is a grotto along the western edge of the Faewilde that can only be entered when the tide withdraws beneath a summer sun. For most of the year, its mouth remains hidden behind dark water and pale foam, but on a handful of golden afternoons, the sea slips away and leaves a narrow path of warm sand gleaming beneath the cliffs.
The fae call that light sunlace. It threads itself across the grotto floor in trembling ribbons, flashing over scattered shells and catching in every crystal grain. Sunstone gathers the glow before it can vanish, holding peach, apricot, and sparks of quiet gold within its uneven surface, while smooth shell beads keep the softer radiance of moonlit water.
Deep within the cavern grows a single flower unlike any found above the tide line. Its petals are formed from blush shell, shaped slowly by saltwater and sheltered from every storm. Set in sterling silver and guarded between pieces of sunstone, it blooms only while sunlight reaches the grotto, closing again when the sea returns to reclaim its hidden garden.
Those who discover Sunlace Grotto are said to leave carrying a little of that impossible afternoon with them: warmth caught beneath water, a flower born from shell, and the last bright shimmer of the shore before the tide comes home.
