Somewhere in the Faewilde, there is a tiny doorway that only opens when someone changes their mind mid-sentence.

That is where Smirkshift is said to have come from.

One grin arrived golden and gleaming, full of bright little intentions. The other followed in black, wearing the same smile with far less commitment to sincerity. No one knows which one is telling the truth. The frogs have investigated and, rather pointedly, declined to comment.

Together, they became a matched pair only by technicality: two faces, two moods, one suspiciously cheerful little contradiction. They dangle like a joke told in two different tones, one sunny, one shadowed, both entirely aware of what they’re doing.
