Not every ghost returns as a shape in the dark.

Some come back as cold.

Glaciergeist is said to form in places where winter lingers longer than it should: abandoned chapels with frost inside the windows, mountain crypts sealed beneath snow, forgotten paths where the air stays sharp even after spring has returned.

The first sign is usually a shimmer.

A pale flash across stone. A brief glint of color where no light should reach. A breath of blue seen from the corner of the eye.

Over time, those fragments of cold light begin to gather.

The silver skulls of Glaciergeist mark the point where memory first took hold. Beneath them hang iridescent faceted prisms that fracture ordinary light into icy flashes of blue, gold, pink, and spectral white, as though the haunting cannot quite decide which shape to wear.

Below each prism hangs a deep cobalt shard, dark toward its center and luminous along its edges. Old winter folklore claims such shards are not frozen water at all, but compressed cold, formed when a spirit lingers in one place long enough for the temperature itself to remember it.

Some say the prism records the apparition.

Some say the blue shard contains the final breath of the dead.

The oldest stories insist on something stranger: that a Glaciergeist forms only when a ghost has become so accustomed to winter that it no longer remembers whether it is haunting the ice or the ice is haunting it.

Either way, what remains is silver bone, fractured light, and a blue shard cold enough in appearance to make even summer seem temporary.

Some hauntings leave a chill. Others become one.
