Flarabell | Wine Red Faceted Glass & Antique Bronze Winged Fairy Earrings

Flarabells appear shortly before dusk, when the last sunlight is low enough to turn every red thing in the Faewilde briefly incandescent.

A Flarabell is a small winged creature with a peculiar fondness for warm windowsills, flowering vines, and anywhere else it can sit dramatically while pretending not to be watched. Its broad bronze wings carry it in quick little bursts rather than graceful flights, while the deep ruby facets of its body flash whenever it turns. Beneath those wings hangs an ornate bell-shaped mantle, far too elaborate for practical flight and therefore considered essential.

Their name comes from the sudden flare of red that gives away a Flarabell in motion. The “bell” is less certain. Some naturalists insist it refers to the fluted mantle around the lower body; others claim colonies once nested inside abandoned handbells. The Flarabells themselves have contributed nothing useful to the debate, although several have been observed sitting inside bells with expressions of tremendous satisfaction.

They are neither particularly rare nor especially cooperative. A Flarabell will happily follow someone halfway across a garden, lose interest without warning, then reappear three hours later as though you were the one who wandered off.

Keep the faceted glass beads and antique-bronze findings dry and avoid drops, crushing, or snagging those splendid little wings, as hard knocks can chip the glass or bend the metalwork; after wear, let Flarabell settle somewhere safe and wipe the findings gently with a soft cloth (we’ll provide a polishing cloth with your item).
