✨Faeneon✨ | Glow-in-the-Dark Pink Lantern & Iridescent Chain Earrings

Long before anyone in the Faewilde agreed on where a road ought to remain from one evening to the next, traveling after dark was an exercise in optimism.

The earliest path-lanterns were fed with candlewax, embermoss, bottled fireflies, and one spectacularly unsuccessful experiment involving phosphorescent mushrooms that escaped their housings and colonized a bridge. None proved dependable. Then, several generations ago, the lanternwrights of a sprawling night market began experimenting with a luminous pink compound that absorbed daylight and returned it after sunset in an electric rose-colored glow. They called the new illumination faeneon.

Faeneon lamps spread quickly. Their brilliant pink light marked bridges, market alleys, garden gates, ferry landings, and the entrances to establishments that preferred to become easier to find after midnight rather than before it. Old sketches show them hanging in pairs from blackened chains, sometimes accompanied by faceted glass drops intended to catch and scatter whatever colors the lamps produced. Their glow could not stop a Faewilde road from wandering, naturally, but at least one could now watch it leave.

Eventually newer methods of illumination appeared, and many of the old lamps disappeared from everyday use. A few districts stubbornly kept theirs. Others turned up in forgotten courtyards, abandoned arcades, and pathways that no longer appear on maps. There are even accounts of solitary faeneon lamps glowing where no building has stood for decades, which historians generally describe as “architecturally interesting” and everyone else considers a very good reason to walk somewhere else.

Faeneon remembers those old lights in vivid magenta: two tiny lanterns descending from dark iridescent chains, an aurora-faceted drop flashing between them, and a brilliant jeweled stud above. In ordinary light they carry the color of the old night markets. Once darkness falls, the lanterns remember what they were made to do.

Keep the glow-in-the-dark lantern charms, rhinestone studs, iridescent glass drops, and plated chains dry and avoid hard impacts or crushing, as the lanterns and glass can chip and the fine chains can kink; after wear, gently untangle the chains and wipe the metal and glass with a soft cloth (a polishing cloth will be provided with your item).
