There are moments the Faewilde apparently cannot bear to lose.

The Curiettes are not portraits, exactly. They are remembrances: tiny framed glimpses that sometimes appear after something beautiful, peculiar, or unexpectedly important has passed. A peacock unfurling his impossible finery. An owl calling through the last blue of evening. Pansies growing thoughtful beneath the rain. A succulent reaching the richest colors of its season. Tulips catching the sinking sun until their petals seem to burn from within.

No one has determined who makes the Curiettes. Some insist there are wandering image-keepers who travel the Faewilde collecting moments too remarkable to entrust to memory alone. Others maintain that there are no image-keepers at all, and that the Faewilde itself leaves these little pictures behind whenever it decides something deserves remembering.

The distinction may not matter. A Curiette does not preserve the creature or flower itself. It preserves the instant in which it became unforgettable.

Plumagesty remembers a peacock at the precise height of his display, when pride became magnificence and even the breeze seemed unwilling to disturb him.

Screechshine holds an owl's cry at dusk, cast across the woods just as the remaining light turned blue and the night began listening.

Pansique recalls pansies after rain, their little faces lifted in such solemn contemplation that someone, or perhaps something, decided their thoughts ought not be interrupted.

Succulush preserves a rosette at the extravagant height of its color, when green deepened into jewel tones and plum shadows gathered between its leaves.

Tuliflare caught a bed of tulips beneath low golden light, when scarlet petals seemed to kindle from within and spring briefly mistook itself for fire.

Some moments refuse to become memories

Care Note:

Put your Curiettes on after lotions, perfumes, and sprays, keep them dry to protect the image cabochons and bronze-toned finish, and store them hanging or flat to protect the linked glass drops; wipe the metal gently after wear with the polishing cloth we'll provide.
