There are ravens, and then there is Cabaravenne.

No one is quite certain where she first encountered the concept of cabaret. The prevailing theory is that something black-feathered and excessively curious slipped through from the Faewilde, watched one performance from the rafters, and immediately concluded that the entire art form had been waiting for her arrival. By the following evening she had acquired gold, developed several strong opinions about the orchestra, and somehow become impossible to remove from the premises.

Cabaravenne carries that same glorious lack of restraint. Soft black feathers fall in great, untidy plumes beneath faceted black studs, while fine gold-tone chains spill through them at different lengths, ending in sleek bars, narrow spikes, and faceted black glass drops. The hard gleam of the metal cuts through the feathers instead of disappearing inside them, shifting forward and back as the earrings move. Nothing hangs quite still, and frankly, Cabaravenne would consider stillness a waste of an entrance.

One imagines Cabaravenne somewhere after midnight, occupying the best table in a room she was never invited into, draped in every piece of gold she could carry and waiting for someone to make the unfortunate mistake of asking what she thought of the show.

Some birds sing. Some demand billing above the orchestra.
