Boundwoven | Celtic Knotwork, Chain & Faceted Glass Dangle Earrings

In the Faewilde, not everything dangerous can be locked behind a door.

Some things have no bodies. Some slip through keyholes. Some travel in promises, names, dreams, grudges, or the spaces between one thought and the next.

For those, there are the Boundwoven.

Their craft is older than most written spellwork. A binding begins with an interlaced sigil, every curve passing deliberately over and beneath another until there is no obvious beginning and no easy place to break it. Chains are then drawn between the outer points, holding the weave under tension while a second knot is suspended below. Whatever is being contained settles at the lowest point of the binding, where it eventually condenses into a faceted drop.

No two bindings hold quite the same thing.

Briarbind was woven for magic that grows when neglected. Wild enchantments, wandering roots, charms abandoned in forests, spells that sprout new consequences long after their makers have gone. Its pale green drop is said to contain the restless heart of such magic, still bright and living but held beneath silver knotwork before it can put down roots somewhere inconvenient. The old binders warned never to mistake containment for taming. Briars remain briars even when beautifully arranged.

Shackleweave was made for things that resist willingly.

Its darker chains sag beneath silver knots like restraints bearing constant weight, while the faceted gunmetal drop below seems to swallow more light than it reflects. Such weaves were reserved for stubborn curses, broken oaths that refused to die, and pieces of shadow that had learned enough independence to become troublesome. A Shackleweave was never considered permanent. Merely persuasive.

The chains are important.

Without them, the two woven forms would simply be ornaments. With them, the upper sigil braces the lower, distributing whatever strain the binding must endure. Old fae artisans could supposedly determine what a weave contained by listening to the chains: quiet for sleeping enchantments, trembling for restless ones, and ringing without being touched for something that had begun considering escape.

Modern wearers are generally advised not to test that last part.

What cannot be banished can still be beautifully contained.

Keep dry and avoid perfume, lotions, and sprays directly on the earrings, as moisture and chemicals can dull the faceted glass, chains, and plated metal finishes; wipe gently with a soft cloth after wear (a polishing cloth is included with every purchase).
